Change SYNC User Preferences
A videographer sets user preferences to make her experience in SYNC more personalized and efficient. With her settings, SYNC performs exactly the way she wants it to. For example, she doesn’t have to tell SYNC she wants to send her deposition synchronizations to inData for same day delivery every time she creates a new DVT. SYNC remembers what she wants and performs accordingly.
SYNC is also very flexible. If for some reason the videographer wants to change her preferences for one instance of creating a DVT, she can. Then the preferences will take back over the next time she creates another DVT.
The videographer accesses her preferences by clicking the SYNC User Preferences button on the SYNC Start Page.

Click on each section to expand. Current User Preferences include:
Start Page
Option | Info |
Number of recent jobs to list | Sets the number of jobs viewable in the Recent Jobs section on the SYNC Start Page. |
Display the following buttons on the SYNC Start Page | Un-checking any of the boxes hides the corresponding button on the SYNC Start Page. |
Automatically download outsourced DVT | Checking this box will automatically download completed synchronization jobs that were sent to inData. |
Transcript

Hide Hotkey tab | Hides the Hot Key tab in the Tools panel of the Transcripts tab. |
Seek to previous line when using Enter key in Manual Sync mode | With this preference selected, while in Manual Sync mode, when pressing the Enter key, the video will seek to the line immediately preceding the line currently selected in the transcript. |
Seek to previous line when using single left click in Manual Sync mode | With this preference selected, while in Manual Sync mode, when clicking the left mouse button, the video will seek to the line immediately preceding the line currently selected in the transcript. |
Number of lines in Transcript Scrolling Highlight | Sets the number of lines the Transcript Scrolling Highlight covers when viewing a transcript in the Transcripts tab. |
Transcript Scrolling Highlight Color | Changes the color of the highlight bar in the transcript view. |
Create DVT
Option | Info |
Default Transcript Path | The default path to the folder containing deposition text files. |
Default Multimedia Path | The default path to the folder containing deposition media files. |
Default Synced Transcript Path | The default path to the folder where synchronized transcripts and media are stored. |
Sync Job Name Prefix | The prefix that will be applied to all future jobs. |
Sync Job Name Suffix | The suffix that will be applied to all future jobs. |

Auto Load Multimedia Files | Sync attempts to locate multimedia files in the same folder as the transcript. |
Default Auto Complete Values to Last Entry | With this preference active, when a value is entered in a field, such any of the transcript details, the next time the Create a DVT wizard opens, the fields will be filled with the values from before. |
Purchase Sync Units | Click this button to go to the Purchase Sync Units page. Sync units allow you to synchronize a deposition transcript and video as a DVT. |
Auto Word Wrap | Some transcripts, like surveillance recordings, do not have a word wrap, and the transcript lines can run off the page. Activating the word wrap option formats the transcript lines for you. |
Auto Word Wrap Default Length | When auto word wrap is activated, this preference sets the amount of characters per line. |
Add Page/Line Numbers | This preference adds page and line numbers to the surveillance transcript. |
Starting Page Number | This is the starting page number on the surveillance transcript. |
Lines Per Page | This preference sets the amount of lines per page on the surveillance transcript. |
Quality Control

Hide Quality Control | Hides the full Quality Control tab next to the Transcripts tab when a DVT is open. (Selected by default) |
Hide Hotkey tab | Hides the Hotkeys tab in the Tools panel of the Quality Control tab. (Not selected by default) |
Show as default tool tab | Select the tab in the Tools panel in Quality Control that appears by default. |
Show full transcript in Quality Control tab | Checking this box shows the full transcript with flagged timecodes highlighted instead of showing each flagged timecode with contextual lines surrounding it in a "potential error block". Navigating the flagged timecodes remains unchanged. For example, using the up and down arrow keys to select flagged timecodes still applies. |
View transcript in transcript viewer after Quality Control is completed. | With this preference activated, once the Complete QC button is clicked in the Quality Control tab, the DVT appears in the Transcript tab. |
Show Highlight Bar | When selected, this option shows a highlight bar that scrolls along with the video as it plays. |
Number of surrounding lines to display around Quality Control issue for context | Defines the number of lines shown before and after the line in question in a "potential error block". |
Arrow keys seek increments | Defines the number seconds the media seeks backward or forward each time the left or right arrow key is pressed. |
Default multimedia playback speed | The default playback speed for the multimedia player can be set with this slider instead of having to change it every time a new video is loaded. |
Note: If the videographer makes changes to the Quality Control preferences, she is required to close and then re-open the DVT before any changes are applied.
Publish DVT

With this preference selected, when SYNC publishes a transcript, the multimedia files are generated along with the transcript file.

Job History

Job Tracking

With this option selected, the following fields appear in the Create DVT wizard:
This information allows firms to more effectively keep track of their DVTs. |
Show the following columns in the Job Summary | With the above option active, options for including the tracking information as columns in the Job Summary table in Job History become active as well. If an option's checkbox is not selected, it will not appear in the Job Summary. |
