Edit a Party

A paralegal needs to change the spelling of a party in his case.

The paralegal can edit a party in a case using Designations Explorer.

To edit a designation type from the Designations Explorer, the paralegal opens a case and follows the steps below:

  1. Open the Designations Explorer.
  2. The paralegal clicks the Designations Explorer tab to open it.

    If the explorer is hidden, he can use the Explorer dropdown in the main menu to view it.

  3. Click the Change View button in the explorer ribbon bar.
  4. The paralegal clicks the Change View button.

    The view in the explorer changes to show parties as the top level instead of the designation types.

  5. Select a party in the explorer.
  6. Note: Only parties assigned to a designation type with applied page and line references in a transcript appear in the explorer.

  7. Click the Edit button in the explorer.
  8. With the party selected, the paralegal clicks the Edit button in the explorer.

    The Edit Party dialog appears.

  9. Change any of the information for the party.
  10. The paralegal changes spelling of the party. He may also change any of the other information in the dialog:

    • Name - The name to identify the party
    • Color - The color assigned to help identify the party when it appears in a list

    With the information changed, the paralegal can move on to the next step.

  11. Click the Save button.
  12. The paralegal clicks the Save button and the changes he made are saved to the party he selected.
