Review a Digital Video Transcript

A videographer has a synchronized a digital video transcript. She wants to quickly review the timecodes in the transcript and make any changes she finds necessary so that she can feel confident when she sends the DVT to her client.

With a DVT open in TrialDirector 360 SYNC, within the Transcripts tab, there is a Review DVT button that the videographer can use to manually check and fix any timecodes she wants.

To review a DVT, the videographer opens the DVT she wants to check and uses the following steps:

  1. Click Review DVT in the Transcripts ribbon bar.
  2. The videographer clicks the Review DVT button on the right of the ribbon bar in the Transcripts tab.

  3. Select a line to verify.
  4. The videographer clicks on the line in the transcript she wants to verify.

    Note: Lines with timecodes marked as potential errors in Quality Control appear in Review Mode.

  5. Play the video.
  6. The videographer clicks the play button.

    Note: Use the Pause hotkey to toggle the video on and off. User the Enter hotkey to seek the video to the timecode for the selected line. For more information, see the Sync Hotkeys topic.

  7. Press the Spacebar to correct the timecode on the selected line.
  8. If the videographer wants to fix the timecode, when the video reaches the spoken line, she presses Spacebar on her keyboard.

Note: The videographer can perform a Quality Check while in Review mode to view her progress.

Note: As the videographer makes changes in Review mode, at any point during the process, she can click the Save Changes button in the ribbon bar. When she clicks this button, her progress up to that point is saved.

Make Bulk Changes

There are several lines in the transcript that the videographer wants to mark as unspoken lines. She can use the following steps to change the lines all at once:

  1. Select all of the unspoken lines with the mouse.
  2. To select all of the lines, the videographer clicks and holds down the left mouse button on the first unspoken line she wants to mark. She then drags the mouse down to the last line she wants to mark.

  3. Press the X key on the keyboard.
  4. The videographer presses the X key. All the lines she selected are marked as unspoken.

    Note: The videographer can use these same steps to accept Questionable timecodes in bulk. View the Accept Questionable Timecode article for more information.

Exit Review Mode

To exit Review mode, the videographer uses the following steps:

  1. Click the Review DVT button again.
  2. The videographer clicks the Review DVT button to exit Review mode.

    A dialog appears prompting the videographer to save the changes she made with Review mode active. The dialog contains the following options:

    • Save - The changes are saved immediately
    • Don't Save - The changes are not saved and will be lost when she closes the transcript
    • Cancel - No action is taken
  3. Click Save.
  4. The changes are saved.

    If the videographer had clicked Don't Save, the changes would still appear, but they would not be saved. Then, if she closed the transcript or the application without saving, the changes would be lost.

The videographer can also quickly review potential errors of a DVT in Quality Control.
